“I’m busy, but i’ll check my schedule!”
That is a line which is frequently said by professionals, by career-crazed individuals who do so many things every day.
What these people do not realise is that they are missing out on a lot of things — related to their career or personal life — and that time is of the essence.
Time is GOLD
Indeed, time is a treasure that cannot be taken back. It is the most important resource because if you do not use it wisely, there’s no way to get it back.
When things get really busy, there would be a tendency for us to forget things — we would be wrapped up in different activities, not noticing the other things that we are passing up.
Life is short — allocate time for the things that matter!
Here are some things that you can do to be able to manage your time wisely.
1. Know your priorities and rank them properly
You probably have a lot of things to do, but you have to choose which ones to prioritise first. By doing so, you will be able to figure out what to do first and what to give more time to.
2. Learn how to say NO
Sometimes, our schedules become really full because of all the things that we say yes to. To be able to free up your schedule, you must learn how to say no.
Remember, there is an opportunity in every situation. However, you must choose the right opportunities for you.
3. Stick to your schedule
Let’s say that you’ve already ranked your priorities and have a schedule of what to do for the week. You have to make sure that you stick to your schedule.
If you have a scheduled lunch date with your loved one, make sure that you follow through. If you need to work on something at 6 PM, make sure that you start working at 6 PM. Sticking to your schedule will allow you to have a glimpse of your working habits, and will allow you to figure out the best way to free it up.
4. Avoid procrastinating
“Ill do it tomorrow” – Procrastinator
When you have a lot of time before the deadline of a project, there would be a tendency of a bit of procrastination. You’d tell yourself that you would tend to the task on the next day, repeating the same process until you’ve reached your deadline.
Think of all the things you could have accomplished if you did your work ahead of time.
You must keep a “finish it now” mindset – do what you can, right now!
By doing these things, you will be able to make time for the things that are important to you. Say good bye to missing out on important life events and opportunities!
