Today, I want to talk about getting sales on the phone.
A lot of people do not actually know what they are doing when it comes to selling through phone calls.
To put it blatantly, most people are no good in using the phone. This is because they act like hunters. They tend to act as a predator, waiting to catch their prey.
Although that is not entirely wrong, it is not relevant in today’s day and age.
When you act like a hunter, sales calls sound very desperate. You will have a tendency of nagging a person and forcing him to buy your product or to avail of your service.
You are acting like a hunter when you are chasing down leads, trying to push a sale.
This is a 1990s sale tactic that will not work in 2016.
When getting sales on the phone, you must shift your gears. You must shift from being a “hunter” to being a “fisherman”.
What is a fisherman?
A fisherman is a person who offers bait to his customers. The trick is to make the bait attractive enough for the fish to want to partake of the treat.
Instead of prodding a person to buy your product, you must work towards attracting him to buy your product out of his volition.
To make the long story short, there must be magic before your sales call. As a fisherman, you must present an opportunity that is too good to refuse.
Dangle out the opportunity as bait
As a fisherman, you must give the public a good bait that they cannot turn down. This is where you can share what your product is, the problems that it can solve, the solution that you can offer, and most of all, your story.
Share your powerful story — a story that can possibly change their lives.
This is what I do in my business. I have a thirty-minute presentation that makes the potential customer familiar about my background and what I can do for them, followed by a ten-minute live call wherein we only discuss a few things.
My bait always works.
You must also come up with a bait that will make people want to talk to you.
Make people want to talk to you
You must also make it a point to come up with amazing lead magnets and marketing strategies that will help you reel in your clients.
Instead of calling people to offer your services, come up with ways to make these people chase you. Make them want to buy something that you are offering.
If you are able to hook them with the right bait, you will be able to rake in profits in no time.
It is just about coming up with the right bait.
