You are probably here because you have something that you want to sell.
This may be a product or service that you are truly passionate about, or something that you really excel in. But there is a problem: How do you get customers? How will you be able to sell your product to the market?
There is one thing that you should learn. It is the most powerful thing that you can do to be able to get a sale.
It is the power of sampling.
When you let a person try your product, they will get a sneak peak of what you have to offer.
Let me give you an example:
An wine brand is giving away free samples to passers-by. You had no intention of buying, but you got a sample. You liked it. Even if you didn’t plan to, you ended up buying a whole set of different wine, from Moscato, Chardonnay, Shiraz..even their sparkling wine brand!
You did not plan on buying, but you ended up purchasing the best package that you could get out of that ice cream stand.
It is because you were enticed.
You liked it, that’s why you bought it.
That is a great illustration of the power of sampling, the power of trying, the power of a good demo.
All you have to do is to give your customers a sneak peak of your greatness.
Aside from that, giving samples and demonstrations invokes reciprocation. It will also help you gain your potential customer’s trust. Your product will not merely be a concept in their minds — they will already get to sample it, and they will know that it is good.
What if my products are internet-based?
This is a question that you may have, especially if your products are sold online. These may be in the form of e-books, coaching services, subscriptions, programs and others.
Well, remember this: you can also make your customers try your product. Do not be afraid of giving sneak peaks of what you have to offer.
Do not think that you are giving too much content.
Customers would like to see a good sample before they spend any money. Not giving a glimpse of your products may lead to no sale, as opposed to being generous with previews and getting heaps of profit.
Another thing that you should remember is that people nowadays are very smart. They have access to the internet and to a lot of information. They are more knowledgeable buyers, and cannot be easily drawn into products which they have not yet seen.
So, what is the best way to make customers try your product?
A Free Trial
To be able to lock in a lot of clients, consider giving a free trial.
If you are selling a software, consider giving your clients a month-long subscription. This will allow them to experience the features of your product without initially paying for anything.
Once they integrate your product in their daily lives, they won’t be able to live without it. You will definitely get them to subscribe.
Prove your worth — do something for Free
If you are selling something of high value, you must prove your worth to your potential clients. This is very important especially these people do not know you yet. They will be reluctant
If you are a business consultant, you can solve problems for them. Show them how great you are in coming up with strategies for their business. Allow them to experience what you have to offer — seamless service, great strategies, and a potential to pull in more businesses.
Experience is the key. Once they get a feel of how great their business will grow with your services, they will definitely pay whatever you ask them to.
Bite-sized chunk of an overall big thing
You are probably offering something big — something that can change people’s lives.
The best way to show them that your product or service is worth buying is if you are able to give them a bite-sized sample of the big picture.
Think about it and ask yourself: What is the biggest problem that you can solve in the cheapest manner?
You can showcase your product through a webinar, a personal call, or a preview of the book that you have been writing. If you can, go ahead and give your potential clients a quick call — they will be able to experience what it is like to have you in their lives.
The act of sampling is just like fishing. Initially, make the fish taste your bait without you trying to reel them in. In the next round, set up your hook and try to catch as much fish as you can.
Remember, it’s all about the experience.
Once the public gets to experience what you have to offer, you will be able to make a sale.
So, go on and set up your bait.
You will eventually be ready to place a hook.
The fish will eventually bite, and you will be able to sell!
