It is such a strong word, but it has different meanings in the lives of people. For some, it may mean being able to travel the world without thinking of their desk job. For others, it may be leaving their current occupation and pursuing their passion.
Let me give you a scenario: One day, you are sitting in your desk at work. You look at your clock and dread the events of the upcoming day. You then think of the ocean, of the beautiful view of the shoreline, and how awesome it would be if you could just do work from that place. You think of quitting and of pursuing something else. Your heart flutters.
And then you hear the phone ring: it is your boss, asking you to do paperwork from him.
Freedom is something that a lot of people seek to achieve, but only a few are able to do so. This is caused by one thing: the fear of instability.
One thing that people are afraid of is instability. When you take the plunge into freedom, there is a possibility of losing some of life’s comforts that you have gotten used to. If you plan to switch careers, the fear is losing a stable source of income.
“Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth.”- John F. Kennedy
Another thing to be afraid of is the judgement of others. You might be afraid to take the plunge because of what others might think of you.
But always remember: the craziest people are the ones who achieve the most in life.
Knowing these possible obstacles to stepping out of your comfort zone, taking the plunge and achieving freedom, you must be strong.
You must come up with ways to be able to strive hard to know what you want, to face your fears, and to achieve freedom.
But first of all, ask yourself:
What is your definition of freedom?
You must know the why before the how. Before thinking of further steps, figure out what your definition of freedom is. You must know what you want to do and how you will live free.
Remember: Your definition of freedom might not be the same as other people. Think hard of what you want to achieve and what you want to become.
Know what you want and work towards it
“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” —Vincent van Gogh
We all have something that we are passionate about. If you are not passionate about anything, then you would not think of taking the plunge and being free.
Take steps towards knowing what your passion is. Check if you have the right skill set for it. If not, work hard to develop it. Eventually, you will be able to turn your passion into action. You will be able to use your passion as a tool for earning your keep.
Your passion will not only lead you to having a stable life; it will allow you to live life to the fullest.
Living and breathing in your passion will make your life beautiful.
And because of that, you will be able to achieve freedom.
Take the plunge today.
